Says Karlien of this work: “This vessel was born of memories of the tasting Gubinge fruit whilst harvesting bush-takka with Traditional Custodians 100km north of Broome WA.”
Karlien’s sculptures are concerned with perspectives on social and environmental sustainability. Utilising the visceral and time-capturing qualities of clay and memory, she creates stylised ‘termite-mound’ vessels.
