Lily Cummins is an artist based in the Southern Highlands, NSW. She works with a combination of abstract and recognisable forms, questioning the idea of representation and creating a dream-like patchwork of memory. A language of marks and shapes defines Lily’s work as she observes her surroundings and translates them into drawings.

Lily says of this work: ‘I wanted to explore the notion of vanitas with this drawing and the transience of life. The fragile body and atrophied legs allow the viewer to become immersed in the birds as beautiful objects on the brink of decay.’
