Acrylic + spray paint on Arches paper
114cm H x 91cm W
A recent trip to Sofala and conversations with a friend who has moved to Tasmania, has inspired Fleur’s latest collection of work – a series of paintings on paper and board.
Fleur considers the way she fronts up to paint a landscape and the way in which she develops a connection to what she sees. Whether it is immersing herself in a location, or viewing a photo of a landscape (as sent from a friend), Fleur finds that drawing with paint or pencil directly onto the surface is a constant in her practise and a way to translate and connect with what she sees.
Fleur hopes to convey the contrasting monolithic and delicate elements found in both of these unique Australian landscapes, with the use of pattern and repetition, varying weights of colour and mark making and with the use of layered spray painted stencils and acrylic paint.
