Katrina O’Brien’s striking works of ink, acrylic and graphite sway between painting and drawing. Indeed, Katrina sees her artwork as a kind of dance, and a way of delving into her own and others’ inner psyche.
Says Katrina: “The works from my latest series are primarily a response to or exploration of music. Music has always been a motivator and a large influence, but I have chosen to let it be the main driving force behind these works. I have opened up my senses to music and let it take me where it wills. During this time I have started writing a few short stories also – they may or may not see the light of day. Depends if I can get them to a point where I am satisfied with them.
It’s much about the joy of music. The unearthing of a new sound to your ears and the way it can totally transform your life and lift you up.
More than ever in these strange times, we look to things that give us hope. Music is so powerful. It has the power to transport, to heal, to lift. Music and art together make my soul sing. Music, art and movement create such a freedom of spirit, a release of life and love. A gift that must be expressed especially in these times.”
Initialed on front.
