Says Nunzio of his work: “The Uncomfortable Soul is an introspective piece, delving into identity, feeling uncomfortable in your own skin but not yet understanding why. Trying to hide behind the mask, yet shedding the layers of skin at the same time. Feelings that contrast and interfere with each other, yet eventually achieving equilibrium and balance.”
As the son of Sicilian immigrants, living a dual existence in middle class Australian suburbia became the norm. Nunzio takes a deep dive into his personal journey, reflecting on his rich cultural heritage and upbringing. His work explores the idea of identity, but in particular, the facade that we use in society to mask their inner sensitivities and insecurities.
