The Easter Bonnet Parade was Rigged, Again

Mixed media on Fabriano HP

105cm H x 75cm W

The Easter Bonnet Parade was Rigged, Again, is part of the figurative body of work, ‘Under the Onkaparinga.’ This work alludes to the ways in which a childhood blanket can be a powerful source of imaginative play and creativity, as well as a symbol of the confusing experiences that children must navigate.

Layers are approached and applied to build reference of memory and narrative. Marks document the process of struggle and conflict throughout the work to a refined scratching of near resolve. My art practice has developed into a richly inquisitive process. My works are multi-layered – the nuanced marks create subtle but powerful shapes and textures. I am interested in conveying an emotion, alluding to a sense of displacement, intimacy, personal fears and quiet solitude.
