Says Lily of this series: “This work came about during a moment of crisis for me.
A time when my depression reared its head and roared. I began to dissociate, which essentially means to disconnect or separate from your body. A disconnection occurs and there is lack of continuity between thoughts, memories, surroundings, actions and identity.
I felt as though a fracture had occurred and I felt myself shift in time and space. Memories began to slip away faster than I could hold onto them. Time began to move differently, I felt as though was standing still and everything else was moving fast. My memories began to erode and details became impossible to remember. The only way I could remain in my body was to draw and make work, it enabled me to remove it from my mind, to make it physical and to confront it.
It is a privilege to be able to create and to share this work.”
