Says Ingrid Daniell of her work Refuge in Hope: “I am drawn to the island as a symbol of hope; this particular piece is of an island off the coast of Tasmania, a place close to my heart; staring out at Paddy’s Island always fills me with a sense of hope, of wonder and adventure. The island symbolises so much more than a beautiful scene; the hope for our earth, the hope for humanity and as I painted this work front of my mind was the hope for the children and families on Nauru.”
Says Ingrid of her latest Remembering Paradise series: “This body of work is based on my personal memories and many precious times spent camping and reconnecting with nature within the Mimosa Rocks NP on the Sapphire Coast of NSW. My husband and I had our honeymoon camping at Aragunnu and spent many years after this coming back to this area, bringing our boys when they were young. Places close to my heart and etched in my memories are a big part of why I have chosen this stretch of coast to paint is a very personal remembering of experiences and those feelings of freedom and connectedness to the land.”
