Says Susie of this work: ‘The Torchbearers’ is a painting about fresh perspectives. Together with its companion work, ‘Voyager’, the painting offers light in a dark time. The work depicts a coastal dawn with string garlands and grids of lights on the headland. These lights indicate co-ordinates, a guiding force, the beginning of a new orientation, and indeed, a new adventure.
