India ink + silk screen on paper
W 56cm x H 76cm
A cross-continent collaboration between Australia-based artist, Kate Banazi, and Spain-based artist, Diego Berjon, results in a striking black and white work of movement and structure combined.
“Diego placed his marks first,” says Kate. “It felt like a jack in the box so I needed to give in a solid space to spring from. Diego’s beautiful fluid brush strokes are layered so it felt right to layer up my silkscreen with texture becoming a key point rather than the pattern.”
Says Diego: “This pieces was about contrast in shape and line. I have a series of works called ‘Improv’ were I would just make a couple of spontaneous traces with India ink. I thought this style could get along with some of Kate’s more geometric and rigid lines and patterns, and it does.”
Signed on front by both artists.
