Living between her First Nations heritage and her Hungarian lineage, Herczeg’s practice holds presence and displacement in the same hand. Through loose, gestural mark-making and vivid colour, she evokes the emotional charge of place, creating immersive works that explore the relationship between Country, spirit, and the quiet intelligence of the body. This duality gives the commissions their resonance: a body of work capable of speaking to both the specificity of Country and the universality of movement, memory, and belonging — themes that travel as readily to a boutique on Jermyn Street as they do to Hervey Bay, where Herczeg’s practice is based on Butchulla Country.

Curatorial+Co. managed the commissioning process end-to-end, from artist briefing through production and installation across four sites, ensuring each piece was tailored to its architectural context while maintaining a cohesive presence and identity across the retail network. The result situates R.M.Williams’ UK expansion within a broader story: one where craftsmanship, landscape, and First Nations storytelling are inseparable, and where each boutique carries a distinct, considered presence rather than a replicated retail formula.
