Tiarna Herzeg
Emily Eden
For Sydney Central YHA’s refreshed interiors, Eora/Sydney artist Tiarna Herczeg brings warmth, culture, and powerful stories of Country into the heart of the hostel through four commissioned murals. Each work was thoughtfully created to enrich the guest experience, transforming shared spaces into places of reflection, welcome, and connection.
In the lobby, Let the Sun Wash Over You invites visitors to pause, offering a sense of intuition, grounding, and calm. Its presence provides an immediate softness against the urban architecture, setting the tone for arrival and belonging.

In the dining area, We Connect speaks to themes of continuity, resilience, and community.
Even without knowing the deeper stories within each piece, with just a glance, the murals enliven the concrete walls, bringing energy, warmth, and connection. In such a transient environment this sense of grounding could not be more important.
