KATE BANAZI | You Get Me
Discover an expansive showcase of original artworks by emerging and established artists, spanning Australia and beyond.
There is an essential alchemy to the way Emily Ebbs creates – foraging, boiling, preparing, mixing, and dyeing. Below, we enter her inner landscape to discuss ritual, Irish Folklore, and embodied practice. Your process blends traditional painting techniques with what might be considered ‘unconventional’ materials in contemporary Western painting. How did materials like beeswax, wintergreen […]
Courtney McClelland navigates the complicated experience of existing within a body — the restlessness under the skin, the poetics of sensation. Familiar in its form yet multifarious in its translations, the body is a repository of histories, desires, intimacies, and vulnerabilities that articulate our corporeal being. Sometimes celebratory, sometimes escapist, McClelland’s figures reveal their connective […]
With equal measure of fascination and concern, William Versace began ‘Future Unearthed’ with his own creations of plastiglomerates. Known colloquially as ‘plastic gems’, these naturally fused anthropogenic rocks are made from a mixture of natural debris and plastic, and are found embedded in the earth’s surface. As a physical marker of human impact on the […]

UPCOMING.
Curatorial+Co. is thrilled to present Melissa Boughey`s latest body of work, ‘Entangled Curiosities’, in our Woolloomooloo gallery from 21 October to 7 November.
JOIN US for the opening celebration on Wednesday 21 October, from 5:30–8pm.
Melissa Boughey`s work moves between representational and abstracted forms that speak to containment and care, reflecting a reciprocal relationship with the natural world; she cares for the landscape and it nurtures her in turn. She follows curiosity rather than a fixed path, working at the intersection of what she already knows and what she newly encounters, seeking landscapes that feel like they are already part of her.

IN PRINT.
Our friend and longtime client, Claudia Lambert, has written a book! She loves art almost as much as we do, and her book is full of inspiring yet practical advice for decorating with colour, personality and lots and lots of artwork.
We`re excited to see Curatorial+Co. artists gracing so many of the pages. Can you find works by the following artists?

We are thrilled to share new works by William Versace.
Extraordinary in both their materiality and making, Versace`s scagliola tablets are truly one-of-a-kind. Bringing together pigments derived from marine life and natural ochres with intricately formed seaweed-cast pewter frames, each piece is a remarkable fusion of nature, material experimentation and artistic innovation. No two works could ever be the same.
Grounded in painting, sculpture, and installation, Versace’s transdisciplinary practice engages deeply with material technologies, botany, and environmental processes.
Working on-site with local ecologies, he allows natural elements to erode, form, or imprint his surfaces, prompting reflections on human impact, the dialogue between people and place, and speculations of what our future artefacts will look like.

STOCKROOM SPOTLIGHT.
Diana Miller’s painterly compositions appear fractured, with expressive brushstrokes that lead the eye in every direction, landing somewhere between organic and geometric.
Of `Showtime`, Miller says, “Like the bright lights and colours at a festival or show, this multi-directional piece with loose, gestural brush marks is reminiscent of that fun and frivolity."

A LITTLE ART CAN HELP A LOT.
It`s World Mental Health Day, and we`re here to prescribe a dose of art.
We asked some of our artists how their art practice positively impacts their lives. Whether it`s getting lost in a piece that you love or making something with your own hands, art creates space for reflection, connection and calm.
If you needed a sign to put down your phone and pick up a paintbrush, this is it!
