Skeleton

Skeleton

Morgan Stokes

October 9, 2024-October 26, 2024
Both literal and philosophical, 'Skeleton' is a dialogue between body and material; a contemplation on what makes a painting in the digital age. Recalling the movements of Arte Povera, Mono-Ha and Minimalism and considered from a post-internet lens, 'Skeleton' transcends the canvas, acting as a meditation on the seen and the unseen.

Katarina Wells

October 30, 2024-November 9, 2024
The balance, simplicity and symmetry of each vessel’s form allows Katarina to focus on the surface of the work which therefore  becomes the hero. Through her work, Katarina hopes to leave the viewer with a sense of serenity and introspection that a simple stroll along the water’s edge can evoke.
The Song of Increase

The Song of Increase

Amanda Schunker

October 30, 2024-November 9, 2024
'The Song of Increase' is the most joyful emanation produced by a colony of bees. Is this possible for humans also? How do we find ways to raise our vibration, particularly if we find ourselves in the depths of grief and despair? Is it possible to do so collectively? Where do we return to, where time stands still?

Jasmine Poole + Chris Sewell

September 25, 2024-October 5, 2024
A new photographic series by creative duo, Jasmine Poole + Chris Sewell emerges from intimate narratives crafted to mirror universal experiences of change, regret, and loss. Sometimes it just takes one object to inspire a conversation – a missing photograph from a wall, a love note in a bouquet, a deflated balloon in the backseat of a car. Who are they, what has been left unsaid and where do we go from here?

Georgia Bisley

August 7, 2024-August 17, 2024
Georgia Bisley’s life-size abstract ‘tapestries’ are personal artefacts of sorts where geometries, materiality and colour speak to parts of her identity. Heraldic in nature, her textiles emulate shield-like forms that reference armours of Bisley’s Celtic heritage.

Karlien van Rooyen

August 7, 2024-August 17, 2024
Karlien grew up in the small town of Kommetjie at the foot of a mountain on South Africa’s Cape Point. Affronted by unrelenting ocean storms, the town was also home to a wild and diverse ecosystem. The living space in her house was adorned by an archive of natural objects – whether inherited or collected on hunting and foraging adventures, this trove of objects formed visual imprints on her imagination.

Emma Lindegaard

July 17, 2024-August 3, 2024
We are thrilled to present a new body of work by Freemantle-based ceramic artist, Emma Lindegaard. For the past year Emma Lindegaard started each day at Wayalup Beach, a stretch of ocean south of Perth along Australia’s western coastline. Emma would traverse the shores, sitting with uncomfortable thoughts surrounding recent changes in her life. This meditative ritual allowed her to seek comfort through her sensorial interactions with the natural elements.

Tiarna Herczeg

June 26, 2024-July 13, 2024
We are thrilled to present a new body of work by First Nations & Hungarian woman and artist, Tiarna Herczeg, in our Woolloomooloo gallery. Tiarna aims to share her experience of dual identity through storytelling. Through Coloured Glass tells many stories in Tiarna’s life; certain experiences have circled her back to a preoccupation with colour and form. In her work, the block shapes symbolise how she sees the land, whilst the colours are tied to her mind and body, her spirituality and feelings. One exists in perpetuity and the other only exists for a moment in time.
