Diana Miller

'The Archivist' is a large collage made from black and white papers, created using either graphite or paint, each piece carrying its own marks and textures. These papers have been created, set aside, and brought back into use, much like documents gathered and stored in an archive. The work is built through layering – papers overlapping, covering, and revealing one another – echoing the way records accumulate and history is pieced together over time. Every layer adds depth and complexity, holding traces of what came before while making space for something new. In this way, the collage becomes a visual archive in itself, preserving moments of process and memory, and shaping them into a whole that speaks to time, order, and the stories we keep.
