Working primarily in oil and mixed media, Llewellyn Skye layered surfaces and gestural brushwork reflect both technical control and spontaneous release, echoing the emotional undercurrents that define her practice. Skye’s refined technique is matched by a fearless approach to colour and form, making her work instantly recognisable for its fluidity, vibrancy, and textural complexity.

Says Skye of this series, “This new series continues my exploration of memory, matrilineal connection, and the unspoken spaces carried through generations. Working in gestural abstraction, colour and texture, I want paintings that hold both an energy and a stillness. In these works, fragments of my late mother’s poetry surface and dissolve within the paint, evoking a legacy of inherited silence while affirming the resilience of women’s voices. For me, painting is both personal and collective. My expressive florals and abstract fields reference nature as a living archive, one that holds memory, emotion, and possibility. Through sweeping brushwork and passages of colour, I try to capture what is felt rather than seen, a hum beneath the surface, a breath between words, a bloom after loss.”
