Says Odette Ireland of her works: “My influences are many and varied, from mid-century sculpture and architecture to botanical structures found in nature. Of note are the sculptures of Constantin Brancusi. The purity of his forms and use of contrasting media are clear themes used in the development of my aesthetic style. Alexander Calder is another major influence. His works are a blend of visual simplicity and mechanical complexity. I love the way he uses movement, light, and shadow play to engage the viewer, creating a kind of silent poetry.

"On a more internal level, these works ask audiences to take pause in the quiet of a sculpture. My works float in the air, creating a visual symphony of parts that move and dance through space. We have all had to learn to sit in the quiet over the past year, taking moments to appreciate simplicity and contemplation.”
