This year, Curatorial+Co. is thrilled to showcase two incredible bodies of work by William Versace and Courtney McClelland, whose practices, through harmony and contrast, open a rich dialogue between human-to-human and human-to-place.

McClelland’s paintings feel like an excavation – digging out of body parts, carving out fragments and reassembling them. As the forms intertwine and separate, moments of tenderness reveal, becoming sensations and histories of desire, vulnerability, intimacy and spirituality. Versace relinquishes control over the artworks to collaborate with the living place, firmly setting the environment as the protagonist. He delves into the Anthropogenic landscape of a ‘dying place’ and the human impact on the geologies. He makes each element through casting, mixing pigments, and forming moulds from his waste materials, exploring the preservatory landscape and commenting on what our future artefacts may look like.
