Chloe Caday

Chloe Caday is an emerging painter currently based in She Oaks, Victoria. Drawing inspiration from her Filipino roots, her practice explores the importance of travel and connection to the land as it signifies the historical, cultural and spiritual connections within place.

The river that flows across the artist’s home in the Brisbane Ranges is a recurrent subject in her work. Since her move to the bushland, Caday has spent countless hours here, reflecting on the river that nourishes the land, but can also cause so much destruction. Spending time in the place over the years, Caday has learnt to deeply understand the landscape – when it is thriving and when it's being deprived of. 'Silent Valley' reflects on this quiet language of a place – a reminder of how everything is deeply interconnected through the rivers, the trees and the bushes.
