Kate Banazi

"Every work begins as a portrait," explains Kate Banazi, "looking to the inherent capacity for introspective transformation, a galaxy. The birth of the first galaxy gives birth to everything else. The colours and shapes that are cast, adapt, and evolve depending on the light source, time-of-day and surroundings, making each sculpture active in its situation. Colours may flood with saturation or be muted, obscured.

“My work is a romance between art and design across multiple disciplines from printmaking to painting, installation and sculpture. A basis in the surrounding cityscape and people around me underpinned with a strong push of colour and graphic patterns harking to the influence of my mixed heritage background, pushed my focus to the interactions of colour, layering and light across different mediums. My work has been collected and commissioned by private, public and corporate clients and my collaborative projects with other artist and creatives have ranged from textiles and sculptural installations to expansive light and projection events in both public and private spaces.”
