Kate Banazi

'Intersection' is a series of acrylic sculptures by multi-media artist, Kate Banazi. “These pieces reference my exploration and research into the engagement and overlap of colour. Reflections of thrown colour move with light throughout the day and adjust the perceived shapes of the pieces," says Banazi.

She continues: “Opacity and translucency, rhythm and movement coexist with our interlocking and repeating relationships, joined, fragile, sometimes jarring often complimentary.

“Hand silkscreened patterns amplify the contrast between the acrylic planes and the applied ink. I wanted to give statement between the textural contrasts, the process un-retouched or edited, distinctions honoured every piece referencing the handmade/man made juxtaposition. Each sculpture is active in its situation, the interactions are dependent on light sources. Colour floods with saturation or is muted, obscured, every piece a portrait.”
