Susie says of her work: “Clouds are a recurring motif in my paintings; this motif can be understood as a metaphor for the creative process itself. Each artwork draws upon the sensory nuances, memories, and relationships that shape my perception of the world. I use pigments and other materials sourced from the earth and its eternal cycle of renewal. Just like clouds, the pigments are reformed into something new and ethereal, yet they resonate with something ancient and material.”
