Curatorial+Co. is thrilled to present a new body of still-life paintings by Kiata Mason. Says Kiata of her upcoming exhibition, “My exhibition The New Wave Luddite is a discussion on finding balance with the increasing dominance of technology in our lives, especially considering AI straying at a faster and faster pace into fields of creativity.
“This exhibition is not a rejection of all technology, rather, it’s about remembering what makes life worth living and what feeds the creative spirit. I have painted imagery of the tools to fix and create, from spinning wheels to sewing objects, tools of painting and writing. A new addition to my works includes the physical presence of people I love and cherish, in the process of their contemplation or activity of creating. I have very much enjoyed the approach of integrating the human form in this new body of work. Considering these complicated ideas has forced my work to change and respond, and as such, this exhibition feels more personal than ever.”
