Amber Hearn’s latest body of work is a series of self-portraits woven into landscapes that capture the anticipation of the arrival of her daughter, speaking to both the emotional and physical shifts within the body. The works highlight the complexities of labour and childbirth, whilst encapsulating the symbiotic relationship between the pain and beauty of that experience.

Says Amber of this work, “All of Me is Me explores my journey through past emotional pain that manifested as chronic illness in my body. My painting process presents an opportunity for me to use the canvas as a space for self-healing and integration of my body and mind. I interact directly with a large canvas, using my expansive movements to create marks that reflect my physical and emotional experience. This approach allows me to unify my gestures with the canvas, creating a visual narrative that mirrors the complexity of my inner landscape and internal journey.  A spill-over of self emerges on the canvas as forms that mimic my body shapes immerse themselves within the landscape.”
