Through her practice, Isabelle de Kleine explores the complexities of our fragmented perceptions and memories.

Says Isabelle of her work, “As we are subjective beings our experiences are constantly informing our understanding of the world, these cognitive biases mean that our ‘truths’ might not be universally true. Although one’s perception might not be a perfectly accurate interpretation of the world, there is still great beauty in these imperfections.

“We are collages of experience. Mosaics of memories. Architects of reality. My paintings explore the flawed nature of humanity that is due to our biases; memory loss and the shapeshifting nature of memory, the inconsistencies that exist within us and the creation of our own realities.”
