In Aleisa Miksad’s Cup, the classical krater form is reimagined with hundreds of tiny teeth in the internal space, creating a sense of movement and energy that “spikes” the imagined wine that it could hold.

Working with porcelain, Aleisa creates each hand-moulded embellishment in deliberately excessive amounts to classical amphora forms, reflecting the untamed spirit of Dionysus. These decorative flourishes not only adorn the forms but also symbolise the bountiful harvest and revelry associated with the deity. The forms are then bisque fired and sometimes under glazed before the final firing.
