Antonia’s new work High as Hope is part of her Slow Motion series. She says: “Slow Motion is about collecting information and really looking deeply into an idea,” explains Antonia Mrljak of her new series. “I am constantly flicking through literature, magazines and books and looking at things on the internet which is fast and furious. But when you actually slowly process one word at a time, or you look at one object at a time instead of speeding through everything as we do, you start to see differently. Lots of different things come through – emotions, colours, form and space. That then makes you reflect on other things that maybe you had forgotten about – memory and ideas that you had been storing. Slow Motion is not just about slowing down but about reflecting on what you’ve been looking at and really seeing it differently.
