Lands Court, a recent finalist in the Fishers Ghost Art Award, is part of a series of work Courts. It depicts a tennis court, with a mountainous background, a space featured in Tamworth where Amber grew up, and where she shot her video work Are you in There. She painted from stills from this video, which was an exploration into these spaces we inhabit, void of the human, yet where bodies moved, engaged, left their mark, their memory behind.

Says Amber: “Empty spaces that are normally associated with human activity, sitting alone in silence in the landscape, feels somewhat representative of my earlier life growing up fairly isolated. Using bold vigorous brush strokes the element of human interaction is present in the empty landscape.”
