This work is part of Tracey Lamb’s 2024 exhibition, Honey, I’m Home.
Tracey Lamb creates work in her home studio. Drawing on elements of architecture and design, she has developed a distinct style of abstract formalism. Through a combination of intuition and intention, her practice revolves around the manipulation of abstract geometries, with a focus on the interplay of positive and negative space. Sheets of steel are plasma cut according to blueprints she develops, after which she continues to explore and assemble through a dialectical process of cutting and welding. Once satisfied with the form, she coats the works with an enamel spray, applying colour where necessary to expand the narrative of her imagined architectures and designs.
Tracey draws on miscellaneous memories and feelings tied to the many homes she has lived in throughout her life. Her work reflects the imprints of certain domiciliary details, which have remained with her and influenced the essence of her psychology and creativity. Employing an exploration of colour and abstraction, these new works are the culmination of an approach to sculpture that Tracey has been developing for over a decade.
