Chloe Caday is an emerging painter currently based in She Oaks, Victoria. Drawing inspiration from her Filipino roots, her practice explores the importance of travel and connection to the land as it signifies the historical, cultural and spiritual connections within place.
Says Chloe of this work: “This is our little spot, our hideaway. A place to escape to find safety, solitude or serenity. A place where we can bask under the canopy of the balete and palm trees, eating fruits and dipping our toes in the water. It’s not too far from home, just a short the trail south to the river. Sometimes we would sit here for the entire day, watching the fallen leaves float across the river, with a basket full of fruits. The days would get so hot, so we would spend hours under the trees and in the water to cool off. There is really nothing more than I want than this. To be in Our Little Hideaway, our place.”
