Going Nowhere Slowly

Diana Miller

Acrylic on linen

2020

109cm H x 95cm W

One-of-a-kind

Framed in raw oak

Painted during Covid lockdown, this piece came about via a slow process of the laying down of paint, layer upon layer until a rich tapestry of texture and muted tones and forms emerged. During this time of home isolation Diana’s day-to-day life was not much different to her normal existence, one of solitary time in the studio.

With the pandemic, there was nowhere to go and no need to be anywhere, no children to be picked up or taken anywhere, so Diana could take her time with this piece, spending hours merely observing it and working on it until it came to rest in this quiet and gentle composition.
