“Spectrograms have played a crucial role in informing this body of work. By translating recorded pulses and frequencies into images, I have become attuned to an invisible reality that exists beyond human perception. These visual traces reveal the many ways that non-human species communicate. My paintings seek to echo this, offering a kind of visual listening, a space where sound and rhythm become visible. My works invite the viewer to sense the pulse of the earth, feel the unseen currents that connect us to the world, and experience the shared rhythm of body and landscape.”

“Nights with Owl is a painting about the distinctive night time call (hoot-hoot) of the powerful owl. The inverted teardrop shape, with translucent layers of blue is a visual translation of the sound as it appears on a spectrogram. The sound almost bulges on the graph which is how it feels to listen to. The resulting shapes reference devotional paintings and call to mind a meditation practice.”
