Says Maria of her new body of work ‘Moment of Silence’: “In our world, words are very important. But sometimes words are not just not enough, they are useless, whereas a quiet feeling and contemplation, directed inward, can carry the potential of the energy of creation. I combined seven new works into a mini series Moments of Silence. The figures that inhabit these works are in safe meditative spaces. But the colour palette is ambiguous. Pure light colours are set off by deep, almost black ones. Darkness makes light visible and in difficult times we understand more clearly what is really important. I believe that through faith and caring for each other, we can still be happy.”
