Odette Ireland is a Sydney based ceramic artist. She creates both small and large ceramic and mixed media sculptures that are suspended, free standing and wall-based works. Her practice is concerned with themes associated with connection/disconnection to place.

“Within my conceptual practice, trees represent balance, stability, resilience and growth,” explains Ireland. “The Tree Totem series of sculptures metaphorically demonstrates how similarities, differences and disparity can work together forming a cohesive, resilient family and community. Through combining  materials such as clay and metals within the works, connection and disconnection between place and identity is held together through an invisible line of strength.”

Ireland holds an Advanced Diploma in Ceramics and has exhibited in a solo show with Curatorial+Co. in 2021, and in numerous group exhibitions. She has been a finalist in Sculpture in the Vineyards 2013, Sculpture at Sawmillers 2014, Artisans in the Gardens 2014 and 2018, and she was a finalist in the North Sydney Art Prize 2017.
