Lily Cummins is an artist based in the Southern Highlands, NSW. She works with a combination of abstract and recognisable forms, questioning the idea of representation and creating a dream-like patchwork of memory. A language of marks and shapes defines Cummins’ work as she observes her surroundings and translates them into drawings.

Through experiments with bleached out hues and striking combinations, colours that reject the obvious harmony within art become iconographic. Her work has an ambiguous narrative, conceived through repeated forms and structures. The characters and settings are all aspects which the viewer can relate to, but simultaneously struggles to make sense of; as though trying to recall a memory.
