One-of-a-kind

Framed in raw Tasmanian oak with oak space + black mat

A cross-continent collaboration between Australia-based artist, Kate Banazi, and Spain-based artist, Diego Berjon, results in a bold and statement-making black and white work.

Says Kate: “I sat with this piece for a long time. Diego always challenges me – whether it to be to treat the piece with restraint or with abandon. Our work together seems to show a quite remarkable difference depending on whom has initiated it. This is Diego first and then my silkscreen on top. There was a real tension in the side that Diego had done and I wanted to create a ‘tenser’ side that let his relax. My regimented woven lines brought a feeling on a spring to let his side unwind.”

Says Diego: “This pieces was about contrast in shape and line. I have a series of works called ‘Improv’ were I would just make a couple of spontaneous traces with India ink. I thought this style could get along with some of Kate’s more geometric and rigid lines and patterns, and it does.”

Signed on front by both artists.
