A cross-continent collaboration between Australia-based artist, Kate Banazi, and Spain-based artist, Diego Berjon, results in a striking work of black, white and blue.

“This was one of the first pieces we did together,” says Kate, “and I loved the sense of light and dark, weight and relief from just a brushstroke – it felt like a cityscape without any buildings so slowly creating upwards the layers and overlays felt architectural, almost sculptural with the black stripe through the centre grounding it all. Diego made his marks first and the simplicity and negative space that Diego left me was so strong that it felt loaded with potential to go any way.”

Says Diego: “I made a very rigid composition with black and white stripes for this one. I know Kate’s work is very rich visually, she works with many layers and a huge amount of lines, so I though leaving some big white spaces would make a nice contrast.”

Signed on front by both artists.
